App Store screenshot sizes, made simple

App Store Connect asks for many sizes. iPhone 16 Pro Max. iPhone SE. iPad. Here is the short list and what to use.

App Store Connect asks for a lot of screenshot sizes. The good news: as of 2026 you do not need to upload one set per device anymore. Apple downscales from your highest-resolution master.

The two sizes you actually need

For iPhone, upload these two and Apple covers the rest by downscaling:

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max (6.9") — 1320×2868 portrait. The current top of the lineup. Use this as your master.
  • iPhone SE / iPhone 8 Plus (5.5") — 1242×2208 portrait. Apple still requires the smaller class for older devices.

For iPad, use the 12.9" Pro at 2048×2732 portrait if your app supports iPad.

Format and count

  • Up to 10 screenshots per locale.
  • Format: .jpg, .jpeg or .png.
  • Color profile: sRGB or P3.
  • Portrait or landscape — but stay consistent within a set.

Play Store, briefly

Google Play is more relaxed. Phone screenshots: 16:9 or 9:16, 320 to 3840 px on the long side. Most teams ship 1080×1920. Two to eight per language.

The trap

The most common mistake is exporting from a design tool at "2x" and ending up with 1284×2782 instead of 1320×2868. Apple will reject the upload. Always check the final pixel size before submitting.

lokal returns every output at the exact required size, so this check passes the first time.
