Google Play feature graphic size and design rules

The feature graphic is 1024×500, JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha. Here is what belongs in it and what Google warns against.

The Google Play feature graphic is not a screenshot. It is the wide marketing image Google can use around your listing and preview video. Treat it as a small billboard, not as a place to cram UI.

The required size

Upload a 1024×500 JPEG or 24-bit PNG. Google's docs explicitly say no alpha. Keep important content away from the edges because surfaces can crop differently.

What belongs in it

  • A clear app value proposition.
  • Brand color, product mood, or one recognizable UI element.
  • Readable text only if it stays legible on a phone.

What to avoid

Do not repeat the app icon at huge size. Do not use tiny UI details. Do not include price claims, ranking claims, store badges, or time-sensitive text that will go stale. Google's metadata policy is strict about misleading store-performance and promotional wording.

Source notes

Google's preview asset docs list the 1024×500 requirement and connect feature graphics to Play surfaces such as the store listing, preview video cover, ads, and recommendations.
