Google Play app access instructions: avoid review dead ends

If reviewers need login, membership, location, QR, or paywall access, Play Console needs reusable instructions that actually work.

If Google cannot access the full app during review, the app can be rejected even when the product itself is fine. App access instructions are part of the release, not an admin afterthought.

When you need instructions

Google says restricted functionality based on login credentials, memberships, location, authentication, or subscriptions needs enough detail for reviewers to access the app.

Credential requirements

  • Credentials should be accessible at all times.
  • They should be reusable and valid regardless of user location.
  • They should bypass expiring passwords, OTP, or 2FA problems.
  • Instructions should be provided in English.

Paywalls and QR codes

If content is behind a subscription paywall, provide access details so review can reach it freely. If access uses a QR code or barcode, Google says to generate a static URL and upload it in Play Console.

Source notes

Google's login credential requirements and app review prep docs describe reusable credentials, English instructions, paywall access, and the five-instruction limit.
